About Our Machine
The first Zagar 888 was built in 1936. Ours is the only remaining tile drilling machine of its kind! Built in 1952, this machine was masterfully built to stand the test of time, and that it has! Its first production dates back to WWII when the goal was to drill tiles with the highest rated sound deadening.
Once this was mastered, the drilled tile became the perfect application for our military barracks. With the success of military applications, soon thereafter it became the product of choice in the post-war building of schools and government facilities.
The combination of these two building applications led to a boom in production which provided millions of square feet installed. Still today, some of those same ceilings are being repaired with the tile produced on this machine.
